Minimalist Black Walnut Keepsake Box #3

$63.00
sold out

Modern Minimalist box handcrafted from locally sourced Black Walnut.

Fully mitered corners and bottom creating a solid cube look.

Minimalist lid that pops up when pushed on the right side.

Dimensions: 3” sides, 2.5” tall with lid

I wanted to create an elegant, simplistic design for these trinket boxes. The walnut came from a 150 year old orchard from Dixon, CA. This walnut has alot of character, from crazy grain patterns, a wide range of colors and some of these boxes feature the graft line where the orchard grafted black walnut onto english walnut trees. English walnut is a lighter tan color, while black walnut is much darker, and in some cases has a reddish hue. The boxes have been assembled in a way in which you can see the various grain pattern wrapping around the entire box, with a fully mitered bottom creating the illusion of them being one solid piece of wood. My initial design for the lids were going to have a little handle of some sort, but after further consideration, I felt it would hurt the elegant look of the boxes and essentially take away from the modern minimalist aesthetic I wanted to create. I cut a miter along one edge under the lid, allowing you to easily push and have the lid pop up. I have posted this feature on my instagram if you are interested in seeing how it works. Only 12 of these were created in this run, and I will only be offering 9 here. (each are numbered and will have the number in each listing)
